Ways To Study Abroad Within Your Budget
Direct Enrolment Is A Way To Study Abroad Within Your Budget
This is of course the most common and straightforward method of overseas study. You apply and enrol to a university or college of your choice and once selected you travel on a study visa that is generally valid for the duration of your course or 5 years whichever is less. Of course, a lot depends upon the regulations in your home town as well as the country where you want to study.
Students who want to pursue higher studies in a specific stream or speciality usually choose this route. If you are planning to enrol directly, remember that not all courses are offered in English – the international language – and you might need to learn a new language before you leave. Conversely, if you are not fluent in English you might consider taking an English speaking course.
Sponsorship Is Another Way To Study Abroad Within Your Budget
Many corporates, MNCs, community trusts, and other organizations offer to sponsor students for overseas courses based on certain criteria. Sponsors usually pay for the education while you have to pitch in with travel and living expenses. However, charitable trusts and Corporate CSR programs may also sponsor hostel stay and a few other expenses.
Every study abroad sponsorship program has set criteria that may range from rank and score to economic status, community affiliation, or region. Also, the amount and mode of payment may vary. For instance, a company may sponsor a specific course and pay for education in exchange for a contract to work for the company for a certain period at a fixed stipend – which is usually lower than the average salary. Some may pay only for education while others may sponsor your stay for a certain period.

Such programs are gaining popularity in India and top institutions like IIM and Manipal university are offering Student Exchange Programs for specific courses. Exchange programs are usually facilitated between sister concerns. Remember that if you choose this route, you’ll only have a choice of courses offered under the program you select. However, this may be a more economical option than direct enrolment since you might get a course discount through your institution.

Will they sponsor your study material including your laptop and other devices?

Of course you will need the infrastructure – such as a computer with a specific configuration – and other material to take the course. Moreover, language can become a barrier for non-English speaking students.
